It’s back to work and back to the daily grind, except most of us are still daydreaming about our holiday bliss. But the great thing about a new year is also a new cycle of leave! This year South Africans have 14 public holidays, including election day, to look forward to, so let’s take a closer look at how to transform about 17 annual leave days into 40 days of holiday!

Public Holidays: Easter Weekend

21 March: Human Rights Day

29 March: Good Friday

1 April: Family Day

Annual leave days needed: 5

Days off: 12

Celebrate these public holidays with a local or international getaway. We recommend exploring Kruger National Park in South Africa or the tropical paradise of Mauritius.

March is an excellent time to visit Kruger National Park, as the end of summer brings cooler temperatures and the opportunity to witness abundant wildlife. Embark on thrilling safaris, capturing glimpses of the Big Five, and enjoy the beauty of the African bush.

For something a little more tropical, Mauritius is always a winner. Enjoy a glass-bottom boat tour, snorkel amongst the vibrant marine life and coral reefs venture out for a family-friendly hike. March in Mauritius is the perfect time to create lasting memories.
