Rovos Rail Pretoria to Cape Town Itinerary:
DAY 1: PRETORIA
Depart Rovos Rail Station, Pretoria. Guests may freshen up in their Suites before joining fellow travelers in the lounge car or observation car at the rear of the train.
Please ensure the Train Manager or Administration Deputy is in possession of your passport.
Depart Rovos Rail Station, Pretoria and travel across the goldfields of the Witwatersrand and the broad grassland plains of the Highveld.
Lunch is served in the dining cars.
Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars.
Dinner is served in the dining cars en-route to Klerksdorp.
Overnight on board.
DAY 2: KIMBERLEY
Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00 en-route to Kimberley.
Lunch is served in the dining cars.
Enjoy a tour of Kimberley's Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole.
Dinner is served in the dining cars.
DAY 3: MATJIESFONTEIN
Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00.
The train travels through the Karoo, a vast semi-desert region that was once an enormous inland sea.
Lunch is served in the dining cars. After lunch, guests disembark at Whitehill Siding for a 5km guided walk into Matjiesfontein, or disembark directly at Matjiesfontein to explore the historic village, including the platform museum and vintage carriages near the Lord Milner Hotel.
Tea in the lounge and observation cars.
About an hour later, the train enters the first of four tunnels; note the first tunnel is 13.5km long, so guests should use caution when moving through the train and turn on lights if needed.
Dinner is served as the train climbs 750m down the escarpment towards Worcester
DAY 4: CAPE TOWN
Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 09:30.
The train travels through the Hex River Valley.
Arrive at journey's end at Cape Town Station.
