There are many different trails to choose from, each with its own unique scenery and challenges. So, whether you're an experienced hiker or a beginner, there's sure to be a hike that's perfect for you.

Here are some of the best hiking trails in Bali that we recommend for 2023.

For those not wanting to break too much of a sweat the Botanical Gardens outside of Ubud make for a wonderful option. Stroll down mosaic pathways through giant ficus trees, tropical flowering plants and forests of bamboo. Keep your eyes peeled for wild monkeys and water lily ponds. Another beautiful trail outside of Ubud is the Tegalalang Rice Terrace Walk. This has become one of Bali’s biggest attractions. Set in a valley the steep terraces and perfect palm trees make for an incredibly picturesque walk.

For those looking for a more challenging hike, the Mt. Batur volcano hike is a great option. The trail takes you to the summit of Mt. Batur, an active volcano with stunning views of the surrounding area. The hike is moderate to difficult, depending on your fitness level, and takes about four hours to complete.

If you're looking for an even bigger challenge, the Mt. Agung volcano hike is the longest and most difficult hike in Bali. The trail takes you to the summit of Mt. Agung, the highest point on the island. The hike is strenuous and can take up to eight hours to complete, but it's definitely worth it for the incredible views at the top.

For something a little different, try the Taman Nasional trek. This trek takes you through Bali's national park, where you'll see some of the island's amazing wildlife up close. Be sure to bring your camera, as you're sure to want to take plenty of pictures along the way!

While Bali is generally a wonderful warm climate temperatures can drop when you are higher up in the mountains. Be sure to pack a warm jacket (ideally water-resistant) and a comfortable pair of hiking shoes if you are planning on one of the more challenging hikes. Sunscreen is a must and don’t forget to reapply it every hour for maximum protection. A hat and sunglasses is also recommended, as well as a plenty of water. It never hurts to take a snack or two if you are going to go on a longer hike.
