Day 1-2: Arrive in Bangkok & Explore the City 

The journey begins with a flight from Johannesburg to Bangkok. The estimated flight time from Johannesburg to Bangkok is 11 hours and 50 minutes, with a stopover in Dubai or Doha. The flights are typically direct, so you won’t need to worry about connecting flights or layovers. On arrival in the city, spend a day or two exploring all that it has to offer – from temples and markets, museums and galleries, restaurants, nightlife, shopping and more! Visit some of the most famous attractions such as Wat Pho Temple or take part in some cultural activities like Thai cooking classes. Don't forget to indulge in some of the local cuisine – street food is always a must-try.  

Day 3-4: Relax In Chiang Mai   

After spending a few days in bustling Bangkok, head north to Chiang Mai for some rest and relaxation. Here you'll find stunning mountain scenery with lush green rice terraces, waterfalls, hot springs and more. This ancient city is home to hundreds of temples including Wat Chedi Luang which dates back centuries, and Wat Doi Suthep temple which overlooks the city and offers incredible views over Chiang Mai's skyline.  

There are plenty of activities on offer here too – go trekking through national parks or even take part in an elephant sanctuary experience (make sure it’s centered around conservation). Explore local markets like Warorot Market which sells everything from clothes to traditional Thai snacks like Kanom Krok (coconut pudding pancakes). Be sure not to get lost amongst all the hustle and bustle though – Chiang Mai can be quite overwhelming at times!

After all that sightseeing, don't forget take a break by visiting one of Chiang Mai's many spas or hot springs before heading back home.    

Day 5-7: Explore Phuket & its Beaches    

Fly from Chiang Mai directly into Phuket - one of Thailand's most popular beach destinations. Spend three days here soaking up the sun on its white sand beaches or visiting nearby islands like Phi Phi Island or Koh Yao Noi for snorkeling experiences. Be sure to also check out Patong Beach for its lively bars and clubs; Karon Beach for its stunning views; and Nai Harn Beach for its tranquil atmosphere.

You can also go kayaking around mangroves or enjoy jet skiing around coral reefs - whatever suits your taste! Don't forget to visit Big Buddha which overlooks Phuket Town - it's an incredible sight at sunset that is definitely worth seeing. 

Day 8-10: Return To Bangkok & Depart for Home  

Finally return to Bangkok for your last two days before heading home. Spend your last couple of days shopping at one of the many markets or taking part in any other tourist activities that you may have missed out on during your first few days here. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along the Chao Phraya River and explore one of Bangkok's famous night markets such as Asiatique or Chinatown.
