History of the building can be traced back to the end of the 16th and early 17th century, when above the western Diocletian baths, built in the 4th century, the complex of Renaissance and the Baroque palace was built. In the early 20th century the Palace was transformed into the 3 Star Hotel Slavija, which is protected by the Republic of Croatia as a UNESCO heritage site.
