Adventure

HBO's famous television series Game of Thrones is filming all over the world. So far places like Croatia, Iceland, Northern Ireland and Malta have stood in for parts of Westeros and beyond. In the fifth season, the Game of Thrones show added Spain to its list of filming locations. Spain was added as a major filming location for Dorne, the hottest and southernmost of the seven kingdoms of Westeros. The fact that much of Dorne's history in the novels “A Song of Ice and Fire” is inspired by medieval Spain makes this the perfect filming location for the show. In the Andalusian city of Seville, the royal palace of Alcazar de Sevilla served as the Water Gardens Palace in Dorne, the private residence of House Martell, to where Jaime and Bronn came when trying to rescue Cersei's daugther Myrcella.

Game of Thrones Andalusia route (6 Days/5 Nights)

Game of Thrones Andalusia route (6 Days/5 Nights)
Day 1 Sevilla - arrival at Sevilla airport.
Transfer from airport to hotel. Start following the steps of this adventure, visiting the alcazar of Sevilla, the location used for the water gardens, Dorne. No place in the world could have represented the water gardens of the kingdom of Dorne as the wonderful alcazar of Sevilla. This palace is converted through the magic of television in the palatial private residence of Martell, the Dornishmen rulers in the capital of his domains, Sunspear. And when you consider the heat that hits the Andalusian capital, name comes the trick. To Game of Thrones, scenes have been shot in lush gardens, among fountains and also inside rooms that are breath-taking world heritage. Doran Martell and the arena snakes can be seen on the series at the same space where, for five centuries ago, walked the catholic monarchs and, long before them, the Caliphs who built it! The baths of Dona Maria de Padilla, la Gruta de las Sultanas, the labyrinth, the fountains... all is shown on the small screen, so open your eyes and don't miss anything! Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 Sevilla
Buffet breakfast at hotel. Today, you will visit the city Italica is a must-see in Seville (7 km) and without a doubt will surprise the visitors for the quality of the preserved as well as the for the magnitude of the city. The archaeological remains of the Roman town of Italica, were founded by the general Escipion in the 3rd century BC. It was one of the most important cities of the age and gave Rome two emperors: Hadrian and Trajan. The area open to the public includes part of the neighborhood built by Hadrian, a theatre situated in the old city and a modern park built around the amphitheater, one of the largest in the Roman Empire, with a capacity to hold 25,000 spectators. If you have watched the seventh season of Game of Thrones and want to discover all the anecdotes of the filming at Drangonpit (Italica) you cannot let this opportunity go! Overnight at hotel in Sevilla.

Day 3 Sevilla - Cordoba - Sevilla
Full day excursion to Cordoba next spot: Puente Romano de Cordoba, or if you prefer, the long bridge of Volantis. The magnificent Roman Bridge in Cordoba becomes by the grace of Game of Thrones in Volantis long bridge, which crosses the Rhoyne River (or - in real life - Guadalquivir River). The images were shot at this Cordoba monument with several cameras and a drone. Some special effects make it look even longer. Cordoba Roman Bridge was built by the imperial troops in the first century B.C to replace a wooden one that was in place. After the Islamic reconstruction, it has 16 arches, one less than it originally had, a length of 247m and a width of 9m. Spectacular as few transfer back to Sevilla by train.
