Have a Positive Attitude! Attitude Hotels launches Positive Impact Movement
As supporters of the TreadRight Foundation, we at Thompsons Holidays are committed to promoting sustainable tourism. It is important to us to be aware of our environment while travelling, especially during the current times and for our future, which is why we are proud to represent Attitude Hotels in Mauritius, an organisation that has taken the initiative to create sustainable holiday experiences that positively impact society.
Attitude Hotels have recently launched a new Positive Impact movement. They have always been strongly committed to sustainability and this new movement will go even further to offer holidays that support the Mauritian economy, protect the environment and care for the local community.
The Positive Impact movement will play a big role at all eight Attitude Hotels, as well as the 5-star Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel. The movement encourages a collective approach, inviting both guests and business partners to help create the sustainable holiday experiences of tomorrow while inspiring other companies to make a difference and ensure tourism benefits all.
After the success of their Green Attitude program launched in 2010 and the Otentik Experiences, which were launched in 2012, Attitude are reinforcing their company strategy, putting sustainable development at the heart of everything they do.
Their hotels include the eco-committed Lagoon Attitude, which has acted as a prototype for the future vision of the company. The hotel has eliminated all single-use plastic from the guest experience, offering projects such as a help-yourself Bulk Shop where customers can stock up on tea, coffee and sugar for their rooms. This zero-single use plastic commitment will be rolled out in all their hotels on 1st November 2020.
Through this new movement, Attitude hopes to preserve the cultural and environmental heritage of Mauritius by supporting the local economy through funding small businesses on the island, employing local people and sourcing local food and products; caring for the local community by offering university scholarships, inviting guests to discover the real Mauritius through Otentik Experiences, and supporting the island’s talented artists, craftspeople, and musicians via their annual music competition.
Additionally, Attitude is doing all they can to protect the environment by encouraging suppliers and guests to better their environmental footprint; funding scientific work at a Marine Discovery Centre; and inviting guests to sign a Positive Impact charter, which asks them to educate themselves about the island’s culture, keep the environment clean and buy local, rather than imported goods.
