Dreamy as they are, the Maldives and Zanzibar both offer much more than just a sun-soaked getaway in an unmatched setting. In 2019 you can dine with culinary greats at exclusive Plan Hotels resorts in each destination and enjoy an even more unique and unforgettable experience

Plan Hotels’ Dine with the Stars events are legendary, offering guests the chance to savour gourmet delights while on a luxury island holiday. Now in its fifth year, this initiative dedicated to food has become one of the most important for the Plan Hotel Hospitality Group, designed to ensure that guests enjoy an even more unique and unforgettable experience.

The inauguration of the 2019 event will be held in the Maldives. The Plan Hotels Hospitality Group has invited two exceptional Italian chefs, Michelin star chef Andre Berton, who will be based in Diamonds Athuruga from 28 December 2018, while famous master chef Enrico Cerea, who hails from the 3 Michelin star Da Vittorio Restaurant will be staying at Diamonds Thudufushi. On January 5th, 2019 the two esteemed chefs will be involved in a special four-hands dinner at Diamonds Thudufushi.

Following this, from 6 January to 22 April and again in July and August 2019, 53 different chefs from Jeunes Restaurateurs (JRE) located all over Europe will be treating guests at Plan Hotel’s Zanzibar and Maldives resorts to a variety of culinary delights. Each will be invited to spend a week in the kitchens of Diamonds Athuruga, Diamonds Thudufushi or Diamonds Star of the East, offering guests a multi-sensory experience.

In the Maldives the experience will include a gourmet dinner with signature dishes, a show-cooking session at the resort's main restaurant and a special ‘Chef's Table’ evening where the chef will cook with the guests. In Zanzibar, guests will attend a gala dinner, enjoy a cooking class and a four-handed dinner with the visiting chef and the resort's executive chef, Bjorn Van Den Oever.
These European chefs are the best in their field. They include Slovenian chef Ana Ros, renowned as one of the best female chefs in the world, who will cook a special four-hands dinner together with Italian Super Chef Ernesto Iaccarino (he’s at the helm of Don Alfonso Restaurant in Naples) on 19 January 2019 at Diamonds Thudufushi in the Maldives. There’s also Chef Chicco Cerea from the 3-Michelin Star Da Vittoria Restaurant in Brusaporto in Lombardy, Italy.

The locations chosen for Dining with the Stars are three of the Plan Hotel's most exclusive resorts. In the Maldives, the twin atolls Diamonds Athuruga and Diamonds Thudufushi are both situated in the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean and offer the perfect balance between the beauty of the natural environment and the excellence of an all-inclusive service. Diamonds Star of the East, Zanzibar’s most exclusive resort, boasts 11 private villas, each with their own plunge pool surrounded by nature and the colours of Africa.
