The Blue Train - Cape Town to Pretoria

Itinerary - Cape Town To Pretoria Route
Day 1
06:30 Register and check-in at The Blue Train Lounge, Cape Town Station. Guests enjoy pre-departure drinks. Welcome snacks will be served on-board the train.
07:30 Boarding commences. Butlers usher guests to their suites. Suite orientation done by butlers. Boarding concludes at 08:00am.
08:30 The Blue Train departs from Cape Town Station.
10:30 - 12:00 First sitting for Brunch.
12:30 - 14:00 Second sitting for Brunch.
Off-the-train-excursion (Weather & time-permitting).
14:30 - 15:30 The Blue Train arrives at Matjiesfontein for an off-the-train excursion. On arrival at Matjiesfontein guests are invited for a glass of sherry at the bar. The sherry glass engraved with The Blue Train logo is a memento for guests to keep. The Victoria buildings and original nineteenth century London lampposts impart to the traveller, the uncanny sense of entering a colonial time warp - an oasis suspended in a different age.
15:30 The Blue Train departs for its northbound journey to Pretoria. High tea is served in the Lounge Car.
18:00 After an exciting interlude guests are welcome to refresh themselves and enjoy pre-dinner drinks at any one of our lounges.
18:30 - 20:00 First sitting dinner
20:30 Second sitting dinner
Remember, dinner is an elegant affair and men are requested to wear a jacket and tie and ladies elegant evening wear.
Guests enjoy post-dinner drinks, Cognacs and Cuban cigars in the Club Car before retiring to bed.

Day 2 (next morning)
07:00 - 10:00 Breakfast is served on a first-come-first- served basis. Breakfast can also be served in-suite at the guests' request.
12:00 - 14:45 Three course lunch served at leisure (first come first serve).
15:00 - The Blue Train arrives at Pretoria Station.

Some areas The Blue Train traverses reach temperatures ranging between -5 to -10 degrees Celsius. These conditions adversely affect the railway lines and as a cautionary & safety measure a speed restriction is in place and the off-train excursion at Kimberly might not be offered. Every effort will however be made available to ensure that the guests enjoy their stay. Please expect an estimated delay by approximately 3 hours longer than the mentioned arrival time.

Insurance
We strongly urge clients to adequately cover for any eventualities with their insurance agent. We recommend that clients purchase trip cancellation insurance to cover themselves in the unlikely event of a late cancellation or loss that may occur due to unforeseen events.

Pets
No pets allowed on The Blue Train.

Luggage
It is advisable to pack an overnight bag for the journey, as only a limited amount of luggage can be stored in the suite. Butlers will store additional luggage in the Luggage Car. Luggage/baggage stored in the Luggage Car is limited to 50kg per guest.
Although great care will be taken to safeguard luggage and other belongings, it is recommended that luggage be insured and securely locked.
All luggage/baggage will be subjected to security check and scanning prior to boarding.
The guests should at all times have their valuables securely locked away/packaged or within easy reach.

For safety reasons no guest is allowed to bring dangerous goods such as firearms, flammable substances, fireworks, poisonous or toxic substances on board The Blue Train unless special arrangements have been made prior to departure, and written permission of such arrangement has been obtained by the guest from The Blue Train management.

Departure Time and Arrival times for both departures / routes must be specified - see schedule for times.
Please note that there are no safe parking facilities available at Pretoria Station. We recommend transfer arrangements.

Transfers to/from the train stations are not included in the package.
Peak season surcharges and block out dates may apply. Prices are per person sharing, unless otherwise specified.
